This is just one of my new Santas called, "Yes, Virginia there is a Santa Claus". These are the rough end cuts from logs that were being planed by a friend, Virginia, for the lumber. These first and second cuts are usually just tossed aside or burned. She just could not throw them away! She thought there might just be a Santa hiding in each one and challenged me to bring him out. This one stands 54" tall and is 9 1/2" wide at the bottom. His rustic robe has been stained to allow the natural wood grain to show and it is trimmed with off white fur. Underneath is a beige underskirt. In his hands he carries a green birdhouse. The entire piece has been glazed with burnt umber paint for an aged look.
